Shave Milliseconds To Boost Chances At SDCC 2013 Badges

We are not an IT department by any means. We do try to problem solve though, and that means we find other tech savvy people to help. Our goal here at Consweetcon is to help you get badges to San Diego Comic Con 2013. What does this mean for you? We've compiled some tips we think may help you, even if it's just a few milliseconds to edge out other members. Now here is what we need from you: comments if you know why any of our suggestions will not help or additional tips! If we work together, "insert corny inspirational quote here".
First and Foremost: Sign up for a Member ID by February 12th. Tell it to me straight you say, well this is just an access id that will allow you to purchase badges if you are lucky enough to get any in your cart. Also it is free, so if you cannot purchase the badges, you do not lose anything besides a portion of your sanity.
What is all this member id and badges nonsense? I am with you. The first year I wanted to attend and I thought, shoot I don’t want to be a member, that's not for me. I thought it was like a membership to the museum. It just did not even cross my mind that this was a preregistration to purchase badges. Obviously at some point I realized my mistake and by this time only one day was left to purchase. Any who, then I signed up for a member id and purchased my badge without noticing they are called badges not tickets. Most people I know still refer to them as tickets. So if you were confused, you are not alone.

Secondly badges go on sale February 16, 2013 at 9am Pacific time (that is noon for you east coasters). The link for badge sales will be sent to the email you used for your Member ID.

Now for the good stuff

Here are some tips we are hoping help you to beat out some of the other couple hundred thousand people who are looking to do the same thing. Together, let's shave off milliseconds and take these badges for ourselves!
Before the big day make sure to check that your internet connections are running at optimum speeds.  Try using to test out your connection speed.
Call your internet provider and ask if you are currently running the best product they supply.
Which browser should you pick? We found an article that may help you decipher this: Which Browsers are the Fastest? [Real User Performance Data]. No matter which you chose, make sure it is fully updated.
Make sure to check your router for any updates. Maybe you don't have time for all that, or money burning a hole in that pocket, if so then check out buying a new router. Here is an article describing the top ten: The 10 Best Wireless Routers.

Also you might want to go back to the good old days and connect directly to your router for a faster connection speed.
Make sure you have multiple people on multiple computers ready to strike.  Build a SDCCCC otherwise known as a San Diego Comic Con Command Center with everyone using multiple machines in different locations.
Timing is everything. Make sure your command center is all on a conference call with someone who has a clock with seconds ready to load the site from the provided link immediately.
To stay up to date on the latest news keep checking the official Comic Con international’s Facebook and Twitter. Also day of ticket sales, have someone on your SDCCCC monitor the Twitter #SDCC or #Comicon feed on an available tablet or phone. A large portion of badge holders will post their spot in line or what badges they purchased.

FINALLY straight from the official SDCC site,

OK TO REFRESH YOUR BROWSER WHILE ON THE LANDING PAGE. However, do not refresh your browser once you have reached the EPIC waiting room.

Once inside the EPIC Registration waiting room, a number will indicate your position in line. DO NOT REFRESH YOUR BROWSER OR RUN MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE WAITING ROOM IN YOUR BROWSER. Refreshing your browser or running multiple instances of the waiting room in a single browser will move you to the back of the line.

Please don't be shy! If you have any additional ideas, or you know some of this will not help, comment below.
