*UPDATE- RESCHEDULED* 2013 Boston Comic Con April 20-21

With the tragedy that happened in Boston, our hearts go out to all of the families touched by this horrific act.  For those of us that were planning on heading to Boston for the 2013 Boston Comic Con you may be wondering if this will go down this weekend.  After all, The Hynes Convention Center, where the event was scheduled to be held is only @ 2 blocks from where the second explosion happened.

Postponement Annoucement

Due to the unfortunate events that have transpired here in Boston, a lock down has been put into effect until further notice, causing the Hynes Convention Center to suspend all events. As such, The Boston Comic Con will be rescheduled to a date in the not too distant future.

All people who purchased advanced tickets on line will have their tickets honored at the rescheduled show. If for some reason, you can not come to the show on that date, we will refund your ticket.

Please, we ask for your patience, understanding, and cooperation. We appreciate your loyalty, and continued support for the Boston Comic Con. Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our control.

The organizers of Boston Comic Con have confirmed the event will go on Saturday and Sunday as planned. “The 2013 Boston Comic Con will be held this weekend!” they said in an email to attendees. “Despite the tragic events that recently occurred at The Boston Marathon, The Boston Comic Con will continue as scheduled.” A portion of proceeds from an art auction will be donated to the American Red Cross for Boston Marathon relief efforts.

Make sure to add in extra time for the logistics of getting through an airport and town that is currently walking on eggshells and should have a very increased security presence.  The Boston Comic Con site asks "Attention Costumers: Out of respect for the tragic events that have recently transpired, we are asking those attendees dressing in costume not to bring any real or mock weapons to the show. Thank you."

Also, lets show Boston how caring and generous our Comic Con going crews can be.  Come ready to donate some money, blood, or time to help Boston relief efforts.  A little bit really goes a long way. If you are not going you can always click this link to donate to the American Red Cross’s Disaster fund
or this link for The Salvation Army who are providing some direct relief for the first responders and families effected.
